Hi guys and welcome back to Miskruiertjie.

I absolutely cannot believe that it is 2019 already!!!

I was working during the holidays so was only able to take a small break now and it is almost back to business as usual.

So let's kick this year off the same way we do every year with a list of new years resolutions...

Yes, I know, as the old saying goes: In 2019 I will try and accomplish the new years resolutions I set for myself in 2014, that I promised to do in 2015, clearly failed at in 2016, yada yada yada...

But this year it is going to be different (I know I say this every year)...

Setting myself up for winning

* Reachable goals:

This year instead of making a list of totally ridiculous resolutions, I plan on setting reachable goals and building on them as the year progresses. Instead of saying that I want to be able to run the Comrades, I would rather say that I want to be go out for a run at least 4 days in a week and increase my distance weekly. I believe that it would be more motivating to see myself beat goals every now and then, even if they are smaller goals. In the end I will achieve the big goal that I am working towards, but I am going to work even harder because I will feel more motivated to do so.

* Self discipline:

Self discipline plays such a major role in achieving goals and being able to tick off that new year resolution. Holding yourself accountable for your actions and goals will be key in achieving them! I have gone and written down all my goals that I want to achieve on a big piece of paper and suck it in my room where it is visible before I go to bed and as soon as I wake up. This way it is there as a reminder of the work have to put in to achieve my goals.

* Some Appy help:

As all people living in this time and era, I love me a good App that makes life a little better. Some good people out there decided that they not only want to help themselves but they also want to help us. A few good mentions would be:

- Google Keep (To Do Lists)

For helping you run through all the tasks of the day/week/month while keeping rack of them.

- Runtastic (Running - Tracking goals)

Keeping you motivated in times when you need to catch your breath (Running pun for running App intended).

- Fabulous (Better you - self help App)

Great App that helps you achieve small goals at first while working towards a much bigger goal.

-MyFitnessPal (Food and workout Journal)

Great for keeping track of what you consume in a day as well as your workouts.

- InnerHour (Emotional and Spiritual Journal)

This is an amazing app that helps with stress relieve or controlling your emotions.

I try and use these Apps as often as I can to help with keeping track of where I am on my goals and how far I have come. Most of them I use everyday.

They are all free to download - but some do have in-app purchases.

* Accountability partner:

Like all things in life you need to be accountable for your actions. But finding someone who will hold you accountable is even better. Ask a good friend or family member to hold you accountable, to motivate you when you feel down, to push you and carry you when you feel like you cannot go any further. I found that by having this "Accountability partner" you will be less likely to give up half way through your goal because there will be someone motivating and pushing you through when things get rough.

By incorporating all these aspects into my new years resolutions I think that this year will be a resolution win!!!

Looking at a few of my resolutions I want to share with you, please pay attention that there is a reachable goal, not time limits that is ridiculous and a whole lot of winning:

* A healthier me physically, and I will do this by:

- Running at least 4 days a week.

- Going to the gym at least 4 days a week

- Eating healthier food -no sugar and no carbs for 6 days a week with one cheat day.

* A healthier me spiritually and emotionally, and I will do this by:

- Checking in to my InnerHour App daily

- Meditating every morning to start the day off on a good note

- Checking in with myself at least once a week - a me-day!!

* A better and more organized me, and I will do this by:

- Making use of my Google Keep App to keep track of my daily to-do list.

- Making use of my Fabulous App to help me achieve small goals daily like drinking enough water.

Now go out beautiful beetles and smash some goals!!

I hope you find these few tips helpful in the year to come, and may 2019 be better than your wildest dreams!!

As always, thank you for reading.

Be sure to check in next Thursday for a brand new post!!

Lots of love,

Lelani

xoxo
