Desert in a pot

Hi guys,

Today I decided to do a very quick and easy DIY post on something that I am absolutely inlove with. Mini desert in a pot (yes, I do also wish that it was rather dessert that I can stuff in my mouth). Or as we as Afrikaans speaking humans call it "Woestyn Tuin" so directly translated into Desert Garden.

Me and my main man couldn't decide what to do with our stoep to make look more homey (me silently hoping that my plants will bring all the cats to yard *insert singing voice*). So we grabbed to opportunity by the hand and ran away into our pot corner and came up with this pretty cool idea.

So let me get down to the little steps:

Step 1:

Grab a pot and fill halve of it with soil that you can find, well anywhere on earth, pretty much. Then fill the other halve with potting soil which you can find at any nursery.

Step 2:

Now this may seem like the hardest part, I know. Which plants to take and which to leave. Choose your favorites and try to get a variety of different shapes, heights, colors etc. Space them out inside your pot before digging their new homes.

Step 3:

Create their new home by digging holes that is deep enough for all the roots and also wide enough. Fill them up again. Make sure you put the soil blanket over their roots again, otherwise they might just get cold ;) You can also add some small pieces of wood, rocks etc, to create a more natural and of course cooler effect.

Step 4:

Place it where your heart desires and enjoy the view of your own little "Woestyn Tuin".

This was just a little quick DIY that I wanted to share as I am quite proud of how far our little home has come along. Credits to the boyfriend for his creative mind and handy man hands for making this cute succulent corner.

Lots of love,

Lelani
